Post Daily
● Use #’s, Emojis, pictures, gifs and try to @ people when you can (not all of those in each
post but try to make posts look fun and interesting!)
○ At least 1 business tweet a week showing off a blog, video, or other piece
created by GSMM (Use link above for pictures on professional tweets/Insta
posts)
■ You can also share the videos/blogs Benjamin sends most weeks as a
professional post!
■ Look @ what the other interns are doing on their Social/what has been
■ done in the past if you need some inspiration
○ Other Tweets about trending #’s, Holidays, Intern Life, Marketing News/Content,
and retweeting+favoriting other accounts tweets
○ Thank new followers (any followers with more than 10,000
followers since they have a large audience)
● Grow follower count by using Twitter Shuffle Methodology
○ Follow the followers of relevant accounts such as CMO.com,
Denver Startup Week, and Built-In Colorado. Then after 24-48 hours (when
the people you followed stop following you back), start to unfollow those that didn’t follow you back. You can use apps/bots to do this
■ I use this to UNFOLLOW the people we follow but don’t follow us back
■ I use this one for FOLLOWING new users
■ I also use this one to FOLLOW new users
● Be careful with all of these that you don’t unfollow everyone and don’t get blocked from following for a while. What I do with the
FOLLOW bots is use them for around 8-10 seconds and then click
“stop” on them and give a few minutes in between my next round of following. If you don’t do this (which you don’t have to) Twitter sometimes will catch that you’re using a bot and stop you from following more people for a (usually) short period of time.
○ If you find any other/better ways to automate this process that’d be great!
○ Log your progress using THIS sheet
● 1 Twitter Chat each week (look below for notes)
■ Start by announcing that you’ll be participating in the Twitter Chat at least
30 minutes before it begins
■ Try to message the host beforehand to see if they can give you the
questions beforehand (you usually won’t have any luck but it could help
you get more time to answer questions)
■ Here’s a good place to start looking at possible chats
■ These are all helpful links that explain etiquette in Twitter Chats – Track
Maven , Social Media Today, and Social Media Examiner
■ Here are some examples of answers I gave in a Twitter Chat I joined

■ If you’re not confident in a question, feel free to skip it!
● Build Twitter Lists
○ We talked about this on the phone and you said it seemed very self explanatory.
But just in case…….
■ If you find extra time, do this for 15-20 minutes if you have a good idea for
a new list we could make. Like I said, some easy list ideas are Local
agencies (Atlanta or Denver are the ones I look for but Benjamin may
have other ideas), Twitter Chat participants, Competitors (make it private
if you do this), Marketing News, Prospects (make it private if you do this)
● BE SURE TO USE GOOGLE URL BUILDER WHEN TWEETING OUT ANYTHING
WITH A LINK THAT WE OWN!
○ This way we can see where traffic comes from. Here is an example below. After
typing in the URL, Campaign Source, Campaign Medium, and Campaign Name,
click “Convert URL to short link”, then click “Copy URL”
Outside of maintaining a Twitter presence this Summer with everything written above, here are
some projects for you to work on when you have extra time. Most of these tasks are things I
didn’t have a chance to get to throughout this Spring semester so any work done on these
would be much appreciated!
● Research Social Selling and apply it to your Twitter strategy
● Create Twitter lists for GSMM to conduct social lead generation campaigns and promote
Facebook Marketing Course offer
● Find new Twitter Chats that you think will benefit GSMM
● Do your best to grow followers on Twitter (goal is 2,000-3,000 by end of the summer. I
know that seems like a HUGE number and growth can be slow but with the right amount
of work this is achievable!)
● Find a service that will automatically DM new followers (This would make it so we don’t
have to tweet at new followers so often and help us reach out to the new followers with
lower follower counts that we usually don’t talk to)
● Find a better follow/unfollow bot to help better automate the process and save time
