As you go along and devices are reassigned, you can easily edit the fields you see here in the GAC! I sync my Work Exchange Calendar to my personal G Suite calendar. I do this by publishing my exchange calendar, then adding it to my G Suite Calendar with the link. iffttt.com (If This Then That) has a “recipe” that will help you sync calendars across MS, iOS, and Google. (For those who have not heard of it, it is an awesome resource of shortcut/repetitive task scripts. Cool free tools. https://www.thinglink.com/ will allow you to make embeddable links in banners as in this example on which I was playing.
The teacher found the video today and realized that it wasn’t links but a bulletin board of updates that could be used in the banner. She found the video from Matt Miller and sent it along https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YJR-D0t7vI. Thank you, Matt!
Interesting idea to use the image as a bulletin board of sorts. Here’s what I made. I’ll share it in the trainer files.
Technology Uses and Perceptions survey from the Florida Center for Instructional Technology
1:11 Chromebooks Rollout
1. Purchase devices with management console licenses. Your vendor will request your domain name they will have the licenses loaded into your domain. As someone else mentioned, they are one big pot and not assigned to a specific device.
2. BEFORE you enroll a device log into the admin console and at the top level of the domain enable “Populate Asset ID and Location Fields on Enrollment.” This is under Device Management > Chrome > User Management. This will ask you for the asset tag and location info when you enroll the device. If you want to assign a device to a user, you can use one of those fields.
3. Enroll the devices. By default, they will be put at the top level. Do them in batches like one school, grade level, etc. at a time and move them out of the top level before moving to the next group.
4. Review your user and device settings.
All that said, if you have a bunch of devices the Centipede is a USB device that can do all the keystrokes for you. The device can be purchased online and Amplified IT has the code to make it all work available for free.
Vouchers for the Google Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2 exams can be purchased in bulk directly from the testing agency Kryterion. You will need to download and fill out this PDF and email it to Vouchers@KryterionOnline.com.
Please note that there is a $1,000 minimum purchase in order to process bulk vouchers. You may want to purchase a package of Level 1, Level 2, and Certified Administrator exams in order to meet the minimum.
On the form, you will need to include the exact exam name, code, and cost as follows:
Google Certified Educator Level 1, Code: PR000033, Cost: $10
Google Certified Educator Level 2, Code: PR000034, Cost: $25
G Suite Certified Administrator, Code: PR000023, Cost: $100
My solution would be to have the staff stop putting the correct answers into Forms. If they instead mark in Sheets using Flubaroo, there’s no correct answer for the students to get when they look at the source code of the Form.
As a general rule in my own classroom, formative work and quizzes, I use exclusively Forms. Summative assessments, I use the extra step of Sheets and Flubaroo. You can even have automatic feedback sent to the students using other Sheets add-ons, so it’s only more work the first time you set it up. The solution we came up (for Chromebooks) is to use the kiosk mode. This solves…
1) students copying the URL of the quiz
2) right clicking to see anything
3) opening another tab to look up answers
Here is a link to a presentation I gave on the topic as well as a link to my step by step directions I give to staff.
Checked in with our G Suite for Edu Experts Team and a GDocs expert and here is what’s going on:
The source code will only reveal the correct answers if you are using form validation on those questions.
Answers will not be revealed in the source code if you use the built-in quiz feature of Google Forms. This is why the quiz feature was built in.
The recommendation is to use the quiz feature instead of form validation. Turning developer mode on/off will not have any effect while using the quiz feature.
We use it for teachers to show how they are using technology in the classroom with students, not for PD credit. We use Eduphoria as our system for tracking/awarding badges because it links in with our PD system and our appraisal system.
Perpetual state budget cuts have left us with no way to fund professional development, yet, our technology budget (funded by community taxpayers via bonds) is very healthy. This has created a situation where we have great technology in our classrooms and very few people who know what to do with it. Our online blended learning PD game, just launched in August, is providing an innovative way to address our problem. Teachers are earning badges and points for PD and classroom implementation. Then they can exchange the points for cool new tech (beyond the classroom standards) for their classrooms.
Our game is called MESD 66 and we use Alludo Learning as our platform. Our game, itself cannot be accessed outside of our district’s domain, but you can learn more about it at 66pd.mesd.us I would highly recommend checking out Alludo! They are fantastic to work with.
We use WordPress to house our site and Credly to issue our badges. You can view our site at http://badges.jacksonr2schools.com and create an account if you want to see more. My favorite part about this is that to earn most of the badges, teachers submit evidence showing they used the tech tool with their students. badging program. Here’s our badge website. We recently switched all of our badges over to Badgelist from Credly. Teachers are loving it so far! Teachers get PD credit for every badge earned. Google Sites. You are more than welcome to take a look around and use anything that might be beneficial to you! https://sites.google.com/woodburycityschools.us/woodbury-badges/home. However, if you can convert your question type into a checkbox grid question, then you can assign individual points to each checkbox option. You can even assign different point values to each option.
You can do partial marks for checkbox questions using Flubaroo.
You can find out more about it at http://www.flubaroo.com/hc/partial-credit-on-checkbox-questions. Transferring ownership of the files is one way to ensure this does not happen. You could also create a Team Drive for the student’s portfolio because any data stored in a Team Drive is owned by the domain, not the individual G Suite account.
New Google Expeditions Tour Creator Your domain administrator has to activate it. It’s available now. Just got ours up today. Does anyone have a database of downloadable 360 images? I want to start building. 🙂
We collect them through a designated class period. Teachers are given a black/yellow tote, inventory sheet, and stickers. They check everyone in their class and then the tote is collected and brought to the library where we verify breakages, split out chargers/cables, enter charges into TipWeb (our inventory system), collect the devices back into inventory, scan them into an extra spreadsheet (never hurts to have a double check of what was collected. I learned the hard way the first year having to search for iPads that were turned in but missed getting collected in inventory), they are then removed from our management software (JAMF), and stored in totes for the summer. Miscellaneous issues (breakages, not charged, won’t turn on, etc) are funneled out into labeled totes while they go down the line. We send our iPads out for repair over the summer to a 3rd party.
Do you want to use fonts.google.com in Slides? Yes, you can. I have not needed to use an extension or add-on though. I really like using fontpair.co for ideas. My website has more information about fonts with a practice activity. http://slidesyearbook.com/intro/fonts/
If you guys have recommendations for additional apps let me know

One hundred percent of my staff uses Google Classroom, Google Forms and Google Slides on a daily basis for everything from class work to formative assessments.
